So often, people set goals and have this picture in their head what it will look like when they cross the finish line. What often is not taken into account is the roadblocks that are encountered along the way. That’s why setting good goals is so important.
Is setting good goals the key to achieving them?
Let’s keep in mind we all have small and large goals. Some goals have minimal impact in the grand scheme of things, while others are very impactful to many people.
The goals I am speaking about are the bigger goals – goals that have a deeper meaning to you, your family members, your friends, or even your values. Many times, these bigger goals, whatever they might be, can present some form of resistance.
One of my favorite saying goes like this,
“In the face of challenge, you can either give up or get better.”
You see, when you set a lofty goal, criticism and questions often ensue. However, if you are truly committed to achieving whatever goal you have set, then the criticism can be used to stoke your fire.
I have had many occasions where I was on the verge of quitting on a goal, but thinking of the doubters and nay-sayers gave me the desire to continue pushing forward.
Giving up on your goals will only serve to prove right those people who doubted your ability, who doubted your commitment. Don’t let the critics be right. Don’t let them keep you from achieving your goals. Remember why it was that you set that goal in the first place, and have the strength to be resilient.
Lastly, remember that I believe in you. You can be, do, and have anything you dream!
