Best-selling author, time management expert, and work life balance specialist, speaker, and performance coach Susan Sly releases new article with tips for balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship.
Scottsdale, AZ. — May 12, 2017— Best-selling author, speaker, and entrepreneur Susan Sly recently published a new article, “Mompreneurs: 4 Tips for Balancing Motherhood and Entrepreneurship – When Unbalanced Feels More Like It…”
As Susan says, “Being a mom is one of the most rewarding “jobs” a woman can ever have. Yet, it can be one of the most challenging as well.”
Of course, the same can be said about entrepreneurship. There are many rewards to being an entrepreneur – “highs” as Susan calls them – but there are “lows” too. Even more challenging, is trying to balance motherhood and entrepreneurship at the same time.
Susan shares that there is even a title for women who are doing this—it’s called being a ‘mompreneur’.
About this title, she adds, “It sounds cool, hip, and fun. Yet, the story this cool, hip, and fun title doesn’t tell, is how combining these two highly-rewarding roles can make you feel as if you are totally losing it at times!”
From there, Susan addresses the question of how to balance being a mom, and entrepreneurship, together. Specifically, she provides five tips to help.
Tip #1, for example, tells moms to lose pre-conceived notions about both entrepreneurship and motherhood.
Especially, she says, what it means to be “good” at both. She states, “Stop trying to fit into the mold of others or what you think you should do, shouldn’t do, or can’t do… Basically, stop judging yourself and stop feeling sorry for yourself too.”
Tip #4 is very interesting, asking the reader to consider “harmony” instead of the traditional definition of balance.
Susan explains, “Truth be known… balance is a hard concept to consider, much less achieve, when you consider it on the micro level. Daily, it’s going to be difficult to balance all the things needing your attention. Thus, trying to get to that point every day is frustrating.” Of course, she also closes with how to counter that idea and the benefits of doing so.
