What is it that sets people apart? How can some people consistently achieve greatness, while other seem destined for mediocrity? And there is more to it than just being born with a silver spoon. In fact, many of the greatest achievers and wealthiest people came from humble or disadvantaged beginnings – Oprah, Tony Robbins, Ralph Lauren, just to name a few.

We all have opportunity to achieve, but true achievers do certain things that differentiate them from the throngs of people satisfied with mediocrity. One thing they do, which can be multi-faceted, is to create habits consistent with becoming successful. A favorite saying of mine is,

“If you want to create 7 figure results, you can’t have 10 cent habits.”

Do you have a goal to become more successful? Laziness and lack of discipline will never make you a millionaire unless you plan on winning the lottery. Best of luck there.

A very prime example of the contrasting habits of rich and poor would be the dichotomy between reading books and watching television. The overwhelming majority of multi-millionaires and billionaires are not watching reality TV I can tell you that much. They are reading books and feeding their minds with knowledge. That is just one poignant example of the habits successful people create on their path to greater abundance in their lives.

be more productive be inspired at workTruthfully, there are many more habits that are more likely to be adopted by the ‘haves’ than the ‘have nots.’ Prosperous people are always looking to accomplish, to improve, to better themselves. Successful people tend to be very meticulous about their habits, and many develop specific routines around their day.

A lot of people out there (hopefully!) make brushing their teeth part of their routine right before going to bed. However, there are a few other action items that you should consider adding to your pre-bed routine.

Many achievers do specific things before sleep to help to prepare themselves for the following day. I have come up with an easy way to remember 3 easy things anyone can do to prepare for tomorrow. I call them the 3 R’s.

Reflect

Reflect on your day objectively. The tendency is for people to beat themselves up for not getting everything done that they had hoped to get done. Achievers, rather, ask themselves two questions. What they I accomplish? And how can I improve?

Review

Review your schedule for what you will be doing tomorrow. Figure out what you are doing, with whom you are connecting, and where. Beginning to think about tomorrow allows your brain to begin to process the upcoming events. You will be more prepared and ready to provide solutions to problems that you might face.

Research

Look up the names, numbers, and important information about the people you will communicate with tomorrow. Make sure to check multiple outlets like Google, Facebook and other social media, and recent news. Show up to a meeting prepared with all recent and/or vital information, and other people, business partners, clients, etc. will take notice that you are on top of things and invested.
