Meet this week’s Organize Your Life Champion, Casey J. She has taken OYL – Organize Your Life – multiple times and continues to amaze.
By committing to setting boundaries, creating a schedule that works for her, and finding the power in ‘no,’ she has taken back her life. Casey is a true example that you can have it all – she is definitely a Have it all Woman. You go girl.
Casey’s Journey in Organize Your Life
After 17 years as an industrial seamstress and 10 years as an Ad Design/graphics layout artist for a daily newspaper and a real estate publication, I found myself searching for work in 2009, in the midst of a downward economy with no formal post-secondary education.
When I started sending out resumes and looking at job postings, I found that to be successful I needed a college certification or diploma to even get my foot in the door for an interview.
I had all the work experience and the transferable skills, but no diploma.
I heard about the Second Career in the spring of 2009 from representatives at the Goodwill Action Centre in Sarnia, Canada.
This great opportunity allowed me to take my education into my own hands by going back to school.
I enrolled in Lambton College’s Office Administration program and thrived in the new atmosphere, adding to an already diverse skill set.
Having been employed in the graphics industry for almost ten years, tackling technology was not an issue.
Instead, my biggest obstacle was the adjustment into the college environment. Being a more mature student at my age gives me a different perspective.
I am more adaptable and can roll with the punches. I am a firm believer in ‘right time, right place, right job and right opportunity.’
I finished near top of my class and was the Graduating Valedictorian for the Class of 2011 – something that I am very proud of, especially since I was an average C student in high school.
But I knew that I had a dream job in mind and that I wanted to work for myself.
In 2011, I started “CaseyJDesigns” – which was my dream of opening my own Virtual Admin and Desktop Publishing business; being able to work from the comfort of my home with my own schedule. I also started sharing a natural cleansing system with others and have gone on to develop a successful career combining both.
I really enjoy mentoring, training, teaching, and empowering team members to reach for the stars and achieve their goals. I have been able to accomplish all this because of a “heart of service,” share it forward perspective.
But with that said, even though I had all the technical training, I felt out of balance and unorganized in my personal and business life when I opened Casey J Design.
I was looking for an Online Course that would be able to help me put my timelines in perspective and help me build a workable schedule.
I had days of overwhelm and I felt that I had to say yes to everyone no matter what the project was. I was starting to feel burned out and unproductive! I heard about Susan’s course and knew that this would be a perfect fit for me!!
Best thing I ever did! I have now taken Susan’s course 3 times, and each time I learn so much!
Susan’s courses taught me the power of a schedule, setting boundaries, and learning to say ‘no’ with grace and ease.
Life is so much more organized now and I actually feel that I have my life and my time back!
I have a better perspective on what it means and what it takes to be an entrepreneur. I know that I will continue to take Susan’s OYL course as ”I am a work in progress.” Forever grateful!
