Best-selling author, time management expert, work life balance specialist and professional speaker Susan Sly shares what it means to be a leader. This includes the qualities of true leaders, how to develop leadership skills and assessing what it means to lead.
Scottsdale, AZ. — October 27, 2016 — Best-selling author, work life balance speaker and expert, and entrepreneur Susan Sly recently published a new article, “Leadership Qualities, Leadership Skills, and What It Means to Be a Leader.” Susan leads off the article discussing the messy US Presidential election. As she says, “It seems both candidates are leaders with their dedicated following(s) but completely repel (or maybe even repulse) their opponent’s constituency.”
Without diving into the political debate itself, Susan chooses to just examine the concept of leadership, leadership qualities, and what makes a good leader. Specifically, she discusses what it means to be a leader, the leaders are born or leaders are made dilemma, suggesting that the answer is likely somewhere in the middle. In fact, Susan notes, she has previously covered this very topic in other articles.
She states, “There doesn’t seem to be much argument that having certain leadership qualities, combined with learned leadership skills, is the best predictor of whether or not one will ever become an effective leader. Furthermore, it is important to remember no leader can really lead and be productive in her or her goals and objectives… if no one will follow.”
From there, Susan gives with leadership qualities and leadership characteristics that do seem to indicate great leadership – and leaders – that others not only choose to follow, but want to follow as well.
